For Sale: Experienced Hunter 16.3hh, 2010, Chestnut gelding. Has hunted with various Foxhound packs and completed three seasons both whipping in and in the field with the Coakham bloodhounds. Most recently, he has been hunting with the East Essex and Langley Farm Bloodhounds. Benson is happy to hunt anywhere in the field and will turn away and leave the field if you prefer a shorter day. He stands patiently at the meet, allowing you to enjoy your port, and is excellent at catching loose horses. He confidently jumps rails, ditches, and water, and navigates river crossings with ease. He often leads other horses over ditches. He is not a big country horse. He is easy to catch and turns out with both mares and geldings. He loads and travels well in both a 3.5 tonne box and a large 18 tonne lorry. He is good to clip and shoe and is upto date with vaccinations, teeth and back. In addition to hunting, he has done various long-distance rides. He is reliable whether hacking alone or in company and is good in traffic. He loves a fuss and a groom and is very well mannered both on the ground and in the saddle. He does not need riding everyday and is exactly the same to ride after a week off. This sale is due to the owner's increased work commitments, making it a very sad parting with a much-loved horse. *** Benson has had a vetting this week and sadly will not pass hind flexions as has bilateral hock spavins. He is sound and well for the job in the advert but would not suit anyone wanting to school or showjump. For this reason he is £4000 ono for a quick sale.
